The latest protest by hauliers is taking place today; Lorry drivers are fed up with increasing pump prices. The average cost of filling up an HGV has gone up dramatically in the last year; hauliers are now paying an extra £250 per week or £1,000 per month to fill their tanks. The government is doing very nicely from the tax, as it is a percentage of the price and not a fixed rate. The knock on effect will be dearer food, goods and services. The government and the Prime Minister claim to be listening; but obviously not to what is being said by ordinary citizens; enough is enough. Central and local government seem determined to price people off the roads; every chance they get they are after our money. The sad thing is that if they succeed the economy will suffer; with lay-offs and redundancies being back in vogue. The economy is better left alone by meddling politicians who only appear to make things worse. We need a thriving economy that creates jobs, rewards enterprise and encourages everyone to go to work.
