I have recently noticed how dangerous breakdown recovery trucks can be. Driving along a local 'A' road the other night I was suddenly blinded by the headlights of a breakdown recovery vehicle. Not only was the vehicle on the wrong side of the road; but had it's headlights on main beam. I have no problem with recovery vehicles using their yellow flashing lights; that are visible from some distance; but do object to being blinded by headlights on main beam. We all have a duty of care and being responsible for our actions; this practise with headlights on main beam makes the situation more dangerous for other road users. I can see no real benefit for the recovery vehicle operative either; if anything it makes the problem worse.
